Steps to Environmental Management (STEM) is exactly as the name suggests; a step-by-step guide to putting an environmental management system in place within your business.

It is a free and self-certifying scheme. A number of free workshops are currently running for SMEs in the South East.

The half day workshops will take participants step-by-step through the first level of the Steps to Environmental Management (STEM) certification scheme http://www.kent.gov.uk/sustainablebusiness and covers:
* Quick wins to cut costs and carbon,
* How to define your baseline and understand any environmental legislation relevant to you,
* How to identify your significant environmental impacts,
* How to draft an Environmental Policy, and
* How to collect data for your carbon footprint

The dates for the courses are 22nd August 2012, Medway Innovation Centre, Rochester, Kent and 23rd August 2012 Surrey History Centre, Woking.
