Marine Autonomous Systems Conference; Fathoming the Future, 6th-8th October 2014, Haslar

Hosted by the UK Ministry of Defence, QinetiQ and the Society of Maritime Industries, the Maritime Autonomous Systems Conference "Fathoming the Future" will take place 6th-8th October 2014 at the QinetiQ Maritime Autonomy Centre at Haslar.

Autonomy sits as one of the '8 Great Technologies' identified by the UK Government. The use of these systems in the naval domain is set to see a significant increase in the future, following similar exploitation in areas such as unmanned air vehicles, marine science and commercial transport.

The conference will examine the future implications of autonomy and its impact on current naval concepts and operations. It has been designed to draw together the key elements in the exploitation of autonomy leading to a perspective on their impact on future naval operations. It will provide:

* Government Only sessions where priorities and perspectives can be shared.
* Industry views on current and future technology evolution.
* Opportunities to see and feel the technologies in the market-place today.
* A forum for creating a common view on technical and operational challenges stakeholders must address.
