Winds of Change - meeting the challenges of the offshore wind industry, 10th July 2015, Southampton

SOREC is organising this conference and workshop to explore the challenges of Offshore Wind Energy and the role of SMEs in resolving these. The event is taking place Friday 10th July 2015 10.00 - 4.00pm at the NOC in Southampton.

The challenges facing developers are significant - funding, technology, even PR to name but a few - the industry is growing at a rapid pace and innovative SMEs may have solutions to the issues raised along the way. The emphasis these days is driving down costs coupled with local suppliers.

In addition to networking with other companies and organisations with an interest in offshore wind energy, you will find out about:

* The state of the offshore wind market
* The use of innovative technologies to drive down costs.
* Using Autonomous systems and vehicles to support offshore wind
* Offshore Renewables and the wider Blue Growth Opportunity

The afternoon sessions will consist of round table discussion topics covering:

* Using autonomy
* Public relations challenges
* Technological challenges
* Environmental challanges

The Keynote Address will be given by Ian Cambrook from the Navitus Bay Development Ltd. He will be talking about 'The Challenges of Developing a Sustainable Windarm from Concept to Delivery.'

The offshore wind market is maturing rapidly. There are 2 significant offshore wind farms planned locally - Navitus Bay and Rampion - bringing a range of commercial opportunities for compaies across the region.

There will also be an opportunity to tour the NOC's Marine Autonomous and Robotic Systems Innovation Centre and to view a C-Enduro demonstration by ASV.
