Busy workshop sessions for Ocean Business 2017

Addressing a variety of issues facing the ocean technology, the NOC will be presenting workshops on its high profile projects, conducting tours of their facilities and showcasing their services during Ocean Business. In addition they will be hosting a number of free to attend seminars.

A conference and matchmaking event on Dual-Use Autonomous Systems and Satellite Applications will focus on innovation priorities and aim to initiate relationships across defence and commercial sectors. These events are supported by the European Commission and will involve major primes and SMEs.

These events will run over two days:

Tuesday 4th April will see a full day conference organised by the Marine South East, based on two themes that are currently enjoying strong investment: Maritime information services and Sensor platforms and autonomy. For more information and to register please go to:

On Wednesday 5th April, the Enterprise Europe Network will host a matchmaking event designed to create real business opportunities. Visitors can meet potential business partners during pre-arranged 30 minute meetings. For more information and to register please go to:

Tuesday 4 April
Prof Matt Mowlem, Head of the NOC's Ocean Technology and Engineering Group, will be presenting the NOC's sensor and instrumentation technologies that have recently become commercially available.

Wednesday 5 April
NOC's Executive Director, Professor Ed Hill, will present a seminar focusing on the strategic priorities of POGO (the Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans) that advance efficiency in monitoring the world's oceans.

Other Seminars include:

Business opportunities to network with the new South Coast Marine Cluster.

Meetings with innovative companies operating in ocean observation to identify barriers to commercialisation.

Development of a shore-based marine radar system which provides crucial hydrographic data, information on wildlife activity and acts as a vessel traffic tool.

NOC support on decommissioning 475 UK offshore oil and gas installations.

Technological update on the NOC's development of pressure tolerant Lithium Sulphur batteries.

The potential use of Arctic shipping lanes

Data modelling experts explaining how to translate marine data into industry applications.
