WaveSentry Sea-State forecasting project successfully concludes...

On 23rd April Marine South East hosted a workshop to conclude the ‘WaveSentry’ project. Titled, ‘Improved Wave Measurement and Forecasting System & Future Developments’, the event presented the key outcomes of the project and explored technologies and opportunities for further development of wave measurement and maritime forecasting.

To maximise the business benefits of WaveSentry, a project developing an improved system for the measurement, forecasting and portrayal of sea-states, Marine South East is creating WaveSentry KN. This specialist knowledge network will facilitate the identification and exploitation of spin-out technologies and market opportunities for managing the risks of marine operations in adverse sea states.

WaveSentry is a project developing an improved system for the measurement, forecasting and portrayal of sea-states. EMU, one of the WaveSentry project partners, undertook to gain the opinions of potential end users for the development of a new sea state forecasting tool via a survey last year.

National Oceanography Centre using reflected GPS signals to enhance sea-state measurement and forecasting...

Scientists at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) are participating in the Technology Strategy Board 'WaveSentry' project to harness reflected signals from Global Navigation Satellites. Systems such as GPS will provide a new source of sea-state data for an improved information and forecasting service. The 'WaveSentry service will improve risk management for a wide range of marine operations in adverse conditions.
