Research Fellow opportunity for specialist in fibre-reinforced composite manufacturer

The University of Plymouth, Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a research fellow for the InterReg 2 Seas funded project SeaBioComp.

This post will support a defined programme of work in the development of resin infusion processes for in situ polymerisation of bio-based monomers as the matrix for fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) during composites manufacture.

The post will also require consideration of appropriate materials selection with regard to the environmental burdens of the system assessed using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

The post will be working within the Materials and Structures (MAST) Composites Engineering research group in the School of Engineering.

The position requires a PhD in fibre-reinforced composite manufacture or similar. The role requires specialist knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, a keen interest in environmental issues, advanced knowledge of research design and methods, and significant experience of undertaking applied qualitative and quantitative research projects.

Interreg 2 Seas is a European Territorial Cooperation Programme covering England, France, the Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders) part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The funding stream aims to develop an innovative, knowledge and research based, sustainable and inclusive 2 Seas area, where natural resources are protected and the green economy is promoted.
